Raising your own food.

Hello from Alaska.  The first thing I'd like to talk about is food supplies you can raise yourself.  I think we would all agree that you can't live long without food.  It is also common knowledge (although, maybe not widely know) that the grocery food system of the U.S. generally only carries around 3 days supply of food at any one location.  If that is the case, it is prudent to have a supply of food YOU control. There are two kinds of foods each of us can control.  Stored food, MRE's etc. and live food, animals, gardens.  Not being a true expert in these areas I am in the process of enlisting articles from various sources.
I hope to be able to put something up every week.  The first article will hopefully be available next week.  The type of food source I want to cover first is the live foods.  To that end I am working with several sources one will cover raising animals and the other gardening.

The Dangers of Earthquakes

Alaska has suffered tremendously in the past from a major earthquake and it is important to stay informed and be aware of the possible dangers you could face. The Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964 is but one example of the devastation that an earthquake causes.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center is a great source for information, alerts and updates for earthquake information.

Another great source for earthquake information can be found here:

Being aware of the possible hazards in your area and where to get vital information should be a priority for everyone.

Be aware. Be informed. Be prepared.
